1. Data Controller
Dental Apptitude (“we”, “us”) is the Data Controller for personal data processed through Bench Hour. For all data protection and subject access requests, contact our Data Lead at support@dentalapptitude.com.
2. Personal Data We Collect
- Identity & Professional Data: Full name, email address, General Dental Council (GDC) registration number, and registrant role (Dental Technician / CDT).
- CPD Activity & Audit Logs: Module completion dates, knowledge check scores, written reflective statements, and uploaded external CPD certificate metadata.
- Financial & Transactional Data: Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers or CVV codes on our servers.
- Technical & Telemetry Data: IP address, device type, browser information, and anonymised site usage data.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR Art. 6)
We process your personal data under the following lawful bases:
- Contract Performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): To manage your subscription, issue verifiable CPD certificates, and maintain your transcript.
- Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): To maintain verifiable audit logs and statutory financial accounting records.
- Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): To improve application performance, prevent fraudulent access, and ensure network security.
4. Third-Party Sub-Processors
We work with trusted infrastructure providers who meet UK/EU adequacy standards and ISO certifications:
- Supabase / Neon: Encrypted cloud database and authentication storage.
- Stripe Payments UK: PCI-DSS compliant billing and subscription infrastructure.
- Vercel: Web hosting, edge routing, and privacy-first telemetry.
- Google Analytics (if enabled): Aggregated site analytics.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
Under GDC audit guidelines, verifiable CPD records and certificate logs are retained for a minimum of 5 years following the conclusion of your 5-year cycle. Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, or portability of your personal data by contacting support@dentalapptitude.com.
